Tom Mendel

Tom is a prestigious acoustic and electric bassist who has been a staple of the Chicago music scene since the late 1970’s.

A chameleon of styles, Tom has played on 100’s of jingles, film scores, and albums but is best known as the first call bassist in Chicago theatre. Over his blessed career, he’s worked with such legends as Sting, Cyndi Lauper, Stephen Sondheim and has most recently finished a 3+ year run of the iconic musical Hamilton.

Since the music stopped in 2020, he has refocused his energy into his studio Oasis Recording in Chicago and his dog, Chadwick.
